Name: Don Mollerud
Location: Fergus Falls, MN
Background: I was a television and video producer before transitioning into Radio. The 5th of 6 kids I developed sales and interview skills with the family before capitalizing on my natural creative talents.
Graduate of Fergus Falls High School, Fergus Falls Community College and received a 4 year Mass Communications Degree from Saint Cloud State University with minors in Political Science and Speech Communications.
How you got into broadcasting: Following my schooling at Saint Cloud State University I interned at KXLI TV 41 in St. Cloud then worked at KCMT TV in Alexandria, KFME TV in Fargo, ND, Ran Northern Cable Advertising and Northern Video Productions in Detroit Lakes and worked at Lake Region Community Television in Fergus Falls before shifting completely out of video and into Broadcast Radio. Since 1990 I have been working with various stations.... the last 15 years have been with the group in Fergus Falls.
Why you love your work: Being blessed with some very specific social, business and creative skills... Radio is a natural fit for my talents. The people I work with make every day a new adventure! And, if I have to work weekends it's usually doing something very cool.
Random Facts: Aside from enjoying the beauty of Minnesota's Lakes Country and the occasional trip to the Twin Cities for cultural immersion I enjoy the solitude of walleye fishing and hunting whitetail deer. Travel is another passion. Otherwise, it's a pretty simple life with a nice blend of family and friends to keep things grounded... yet interesting.
